Why are they called skittles, anyway?

The original is my fave but I really like the fruity ones too! I do not eat candy that often but when I do I enjoy skittles. I don't know why they called them skittles, but it's a cute name! Dont'cha think?

a game involved finding the rare Skittles in order to use them to form spells. The game was a way of promoting the candy.

Who knows why they call it skittles, its cutsey and their slogan is real catchy.
