Try putting on some really relaxing music right before bed--like nature sounds or classical music or something. Close your eyes and take deep breaths, exhaling slowly. You may also want to get one of those gel eye masks to wear for a little while. Also, try drinking some chamomile tea and lighting a lavendar-scented candle. These are all supposed to help releive stress. And be sure to get a good night's sleep! :)

Hope this helps!

I've never been diagnosed with anything but I'm sure I have depression as well. I've found being outside helps, the fresh air is amazing. Also exercising is a great way to reduce stress. You can try writing or finding a creative outlet. The binge eating you have to look into though that can be something more. Food gives us a sense of "fullness" that is otherwise lacking from our lives but it isn't a healthy way to handle life's stresses. Find an activity that you really like. If you have health insurance, most of them cover mental health issues, you can always look for counseling.

Breathing exercises work well wherever you are.

Start with long breaths: Count 6 seconds in and 8 seconds out, if that's too hard try counting 4 seconds in and 6 seconds out. As the breathe goes out release all your muscles and feel them loosen a bit. Repeat about five times and then continue with asteady breathing at a normal rate. If you've been shallow breathing (panting) for years your body may need to re-learn with practice how to breathe slowly, naturally.

Remember to breathe with your stomach, imagine you are inflating your stomach like a balloon when you breathe in and emptying it when you breathe out. This makes sure you are using your diaphram properly. Anxious people are chest breathers who take short shallow breaths. It is almost impossible to be anxious/stressed when breathing slowly deeply and regularly.

Whenever your attention drifts away from your breathing, bring it back to the breathing. Again and again. To start it will be odd but eventually you will start breathing naturally. Dont struggle with your thoughts, just remember that is all they are, electrical impulses going through your brain, no need for the flight or fight response that gets the adrenaline goiing. No physical effort is required so adrenaline is innappropriate.

This is something you can do anywhere and everywhere without anyone noticing. It works. Wish I knew all this when I was taking exams.

MEDITATION (clears your mind)

LAVENDER candles, incense, soaps, etc. (relaxes you)

CHAMOMILE TEA (also relaxes you)

Walking/jogging/running in the fresh air helps relieve stress.

Use MELATONIN supplements before you want to go to sleep (they will help you sleep--and are OTC in the vitamin aisle).

OR: Use SLEEPYTIME EXTRA TEA with VALERIAN, which will calm you, and perhaps help you to sleep (don't use both valerian and melatonin)

OR: Use VALERIAN ROOT SUPPLEMENTS (for relaxation and/or sleep) These are a lot stronger than the tea with valerian--so you should try that first to make sure you don't have any bad reaction. Again, don't use both Melatonin and Valerian)

Good luck on your tests!

Rewarding yourself throughout studying is good too...after 1 hour of studying go watch 15 mins of tv..make yourself a cup of tea etc... its been found that our concintration starts to lack after an hour of studying and we should take 15 mins break for every hour!

Good luck in your exams..try to relax abit more.
