The same reason why someone else would ask why does black people always wear their pants around their knees? Or, why does Asian people appear to be running all the time? Or, why does Africans click when they talk? You are a product of your environment. If you have no understanding of something, it's does not mean it's wrong or stupid. Or, if you do believe it is stupid, then maybe the issue is with you. Good luck with that.
