God has many names the name of love comes to mind in referring to Him,God hears your prayers talk to Him like a friend or a brother,He is close to you and hears your prayers,i havent read in the bible where you should address Him in any way but in love, our Father is so much more to us than even our biological fathers,in addressing your own father what would you say,i dont think we have to be so stiff when talking and praying to Him,consider the fact that talking to Him is praying

The Lord taught us how to pray, so I'd say "Our Father" who art in Heaven....... Christians say Our Father, an intimate expression of God as we have a Personal Relationship with Jesus. There are many names for God/Jesus in the Bible. I'm sure The Lord welcomes them all.

They're is nothing specific but try avoiding saying God, because it is somewhat disrespectful. Instead, you should say Lord, Dear Lord, Heavenly Father, Father. I'm 13 and I know this stuff.

First, stop calling him 'God'. He is a god. 'god' is simply a title, not a name.

Assuming we're talking about the god of Abraham, that god told Moses his name. "I Am Who Am", or shortened and transliterated hebrew, YHVH. To transliterate this further into the latin, you'd get either Yahweh or Yehvah or any other variation of YHVH since the vowels are missing even in the original hebrew.

Yahweh seems the best of the various variants though.

Besides, if this god really is the only true one, wouldn't it kinda know who you meant?

I'm not sure there is a "proper" name. Being that prayer is a private event between you and God, do what feels right to you.

read ps 83 verse 18 in the king james bible. God only has one name and it is Jehovah. Jesus Christ is not the Father, he is the son. when we pray we say in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

His name is Jehovah:
I'm shocked at the stupidity in the above answers.
But then, Satan is at work as usual clouding peoples minds.
The holy name is where most of the Prophets names came from. Note the similarity in sounds.

God will not be offended if you just address him as a name that you feel shows reverence for him, such as Father. His name is expressed different ways in scripture: El, Elohim, Elohim Adonai, Jehovah, Yaweh, YHWH, I Am That I Am. The name that's in your heart is what's important.

Jehovah

Exodus 6:3; Psalm 83:18 KJV

The first of those tell us he is God Almighty; the second that he is the Most High.

Then in Luke 1:31, 32 we see that Jesus is the Son of this one: "And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest."

Jesus taught us to pray to our Father - the Father of us and of Jesus, whose name we have seen is (in English) Jehovah.
