If I tell others Jesus is "my personal Savior", isn't that a rather controlling attitude? He doesn't belong to me, I belong to Him.

He is your personal Savior because even if you were the only person on earth, He would have came and died to redeem you. He loves you so much that everything He went through, He would have gone through just for you. Yes, you belong to Him, but while He was hanging on the cross, He had his eye on you.

many people consider Jesus 'The Savior' and have followed church rules and believe that He is their Savior.. the difference of personal added, is that you have chosen to have a personal relationship with Christ by seeking Him daily, seeking His will, and seeking to follow... making it personal is the only way to 'Know Christ'

for example... I know who George Bush is... he is my president... but he isnt my 'personal president' cuz i don't have a relationship with him at all.. i just know of him.. and the things he has done... now, i know lots of 'christians' who 'know' Jesus just that same way... even the demons know that Jesus is the son of God, but they will not be in heaven.. it is all about getting to know Him personally, and that is the difference to me

It is a personal relationship you and Christ have one-on-one. It is a blessing.
