The cream or off-white would make a nice contrast between the walls and floors. You can always wait to paint them to see how you like them natural.

Ahh! No! Don't paint them!
If you ever have to move or want hardwood baseboards again, you will regret it. You'll have to strip all the paint off, then sand and refinish them. Believe me, spending a little time to tape up the baseboards and then only paint the walls will be a lot less of a hassle. Do yourself a favor. :)

At this VERY SECOND, a workman is installing the quarter molding that needs to be installed once you pull up the carpet. He stained them as close to the floor color as possible. It looks so nice. I have the baseboards painted white, and the walls painted "Linen" shade.
The handyman said, " match the baseboards to the trim."

I like the base painted the same color (white) as the casing to make it flow through the room.

I prefer a stark white with that color combination, actually. It will provide a nice contrast and keep everything looking clean. I don't like the wood-colored baseboards as they echo of 70s-style wood paneling to me. White is much more modern.

I think that painting them off white gives the room a smaller feel.
