We don't have "fifths" anymore. They've been replaced by the metric 750 ml bottle.
A fifth measured 4/5's of a quart, not 1/5 of a gallon, however.

a fifth is an obsolete term in the US. It used to mean 4/5 of a quart. the US is now on the meteric system, for alcohol at least.
