I got a kitten last night that has a missing left eye (it got scratched or something and infected) It looks like the other eye is getting infected. I took it to the vet today and he gave me some anitbiotics, and some kind of solution to put in his other remaining eye. The vet said his remaining eye wasnt open enough for him to tell if anything was detatched (which is why I have the solution) I guess it's to clear the matted eye up so he can look at it. Im to take him back on Saturday and see what the vet has to say.

He is around 4 maybe 5 weeks old.
Anyway, my question is.... You feed the kitten every what...3-4 hours? Whats the best kind of milk to use (pet milk, not human) I should have asked the vet for some, but the kitten can eat solid cat food if it's been soaked and is drinking water.

A quality canned food is best for a kitten who has just been weaned - Natural Balance, Wellness, Lick Your Chops or Max kitten canned if you will.

DO NOT give this kitten cow's milk. If he is lactose intolerant he can develop a fatal diarrhea from it.

A kitten that age should have four or five small meals a day (and into the night). One can a day should be sufficient and don't hesitate to let him have more if he wants. He will not do well with dry food!

if the kitten has an infection, it might be better to give it canned food for now. canned food has more fat and will build up the kittens system to fight off the infection. you can always wean it back to dry food by adding a little more dry food and less canned food after it gets better.and you dont have to feed it every 3 or 4 hours. once or twice a day should be enough for now. try some canned food in the morning and then leave out a little dry food, for the kitten to snack on through the day.

If the kitten is eating solids, then you dont need the milk. Just make sure you are feeding him/her a good quality Kitten food..not a food that is designed for adult cats.

They sell kitten milk at pet stores - and you can even find it at Walmart sometimes. You should start out feeding every 2 hours or less because the cat is so ill...chances are, he is dehydrated.

In pet stores, they actually sell what is called "Kitten milk" no joke. Just like formula. I had to use it on my baby bunnies, and they didn't take to it at first, but they grew healthy, and it gives the calcium and fat that they need. It should also help heal the little bugger since it has zinc in it. Good luck!

You can give the kitten regular milk you buy at the store, they don't eat that much, and you can feed him every 3 hours...God bless you for being kind, this kitten will love you forever.

You can get a milk replacer like Renurse or Just Born.

Just to be safe, poke out the right one as well - so other cats don't make fun of it by calling it names like "One eye"
