Ok basically the other day I by accident used a very strong tea tree oil shower-gel on my face [original source brand]. It was an accident of course, I reached for the wrong bottle. My skin is pretty sensitive and has literally burned from the contact, is bright red and blotchy and very hot to touch. To cool it down I've put nivia cream on it which has calmed it down a bit, and its less painfull. Just checking this is ok, it doesnt say anywhere not to put it on your face. Lots of people use this when they get sunburnt so thats why I chose it.

Yes, the Nivea cream should be okay for your face. Specialized moisturizers for the face are made because some people prefer lighter moisturizers so their pores don't get clogged. It seems you have very sensitive skin, so you'd know right away if this product didn't agree with you.

If the irritation from the shower-gel doesn't heal in the next few days, see a dermatologist.

As other members have said, aloe gel, vitamin E cream (fragrance free), cortisone cream and plain yogurt can be used too.

BTW, Cetaphil cleanser and Dove for sensitive skin are really mild. You might want to use one of these as your skin heals.

All moisturizers are not created equal! Just because it's good for the body does not mean its good for the face. Body moisturizers are heavier and usually contain fragrance and other irritants for the sensitive skin of the face. Congrats the the nivea calmed your skin as I can imagine how the tee tree shower gel felt like fire! However, don't continue using it unless recommended by an dermatologist for YOUR skin. Since you have sensitive skin, stick to a moisturizer that is for the face. That way, you should be assured no problems. Better for your pores, better for your sensitivity. Good luck!

nivea is probably the best cream you can use because of the high oil content, which is probably why its so soothing. oil is not only a lubricant but its like a layer between air and skin when your skin is try to regenerate skin cells. Its fine to use on your face. You might breakout if you skin is sensitive to oil but its better than being in pain. good luck

if it says that it's not harmful to your skin, then you should be fine. but everyone's skin is different and reacts differently. like you said, you have sensitive skin, so just keep trying to cool it off. possibly try aloe vera gel. that works on burns, like chemical and sun burns. good luck!

You'll recover and if I may suggest ; yogurt is great for sunburn so it would probably work for your situation too. Honey is also good for the skin and this type of thing

Check and see if the product has a toll-free number on it and call and ask them what to do.
