because he didn't know that brontosaur would be renamed apatosaur. So he couldn't find the bone because anytime he asked a villager, " Hey buddy could i get a brontosauros leg bone from you so i can fashion a crude stabbing utensil from it?" the villager would respond, "Sorry pal, all i got is dozens and dozens of apatosaur leg bones laying around." to which Samson would respond, "Damn!" So it was a language barrier thing.

Because asses were much more common in that part of the world. I don't know of many dinosaur bones that have been discovered in the holy land. By the way, asses are pretty common around here, too.
