If Cain was the only surviving son of Adam and Eve, where did his wife come from? I don't want any answers saying "The Bible is a lie" or anything like that. This question is to make people ask why their church never explains things like that. I found myself asking that question a week ago and now I can't find any church that answers the tough questions like that, so if you have the answer, let me know!

Thanks! Question your faith, it will only make you stronger!

I was looking at that this morning and thinking about it.
First of all we know that Eve was the mother of all creation and the fall of man came through Adam and Eve's sin. So there is no way to me that God created a bunch of other people and placed them on the earth. I noticed the lineage of Adam was written down from his third son Seth who was born I believe about the time Adam was 130 years old. I believe that Adam and Eve would have had daughters who are not mentioned in the bible. Because the gene pool was perfect in the beginning brothers would have been able to take sisters as their wives. A lot of people could have been born in a hundred years or so, before Cain killed Abel.

I found the answer from a heretical pagan. Those churches are weak if they can't answer this question.

There is no reason to assume from reading the Bible that Adam and Eve were the only people created. When you read Genesis chapters 1 and 2, you can see that other people were created. They just weren't featured in the tales. After all, who cares about Jesephia the Nobody when you have Adam and Eve and the serpent?

The Bible also makes note that Cain goes to Nod and marries. So, the Bible does include other people.

Good question.
It seems that Cain was also afraid of other people, after being banished for murdering his brother Abel. I am not sure where the people came from, the Bible does not address that issue.
Some possibilities:
1. God also created other people & Adam & Eve started the line of the Messiah.
2. She was Nephalim.
3. She was a sister or close relative.
4. Adam & Eve had many other children the Bible doesn't mention.
5. How old was Cain when he got married?

BTW- I am a youth pastor at a church and believe God gave us brains to use, so GOOD QUESTION! Keep 'em coming.

First, Brian, Cain was not the only surviving son of Adam and Eve. Whatever church you are attending is not obviously not teaching the Word of God. Look elsewhere. There was also Seth which was born to Adam and Eve. Now you need to understand that the Bible does not track every man that walked the earth. It focuses primarily on the line of the coming Messiah who will redeem the earth. Adam and Eve had quite a few more kids than just Cain, Abel and Seth. The Bible does not mention the daughters born to Adam and Eve.

In that day, the DNA was almost perfect and not subject to distortions set in by repetitive inbreeding. However, later, when the Mosaic Law was given, this practice was forbidden to prevent these genetic distortions.

Instructions given to Adam and Eve shortly after their creation, namely: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it.”—Gen. 1:28.
Obedience to this command would require that Adam and Eve have children. Then these children, in turn, would marry and bear children. This process of reproduction by succeeding generations would need to continue in order to fill the earth in harmony with God’s purpose.
However, before Eve was pregnant with her first child Cain, both Adam and his wife sinned by disobeying God and were driven outside the garden of Eden. (Gen. 3:1-19)
From this it can be seen that Adam apparently went out to the east of the garden of Eden. It was here that, not only Cain and Abel were born, but the Bible also later mentions by name a third son, Seth. However, notice that Adam and Eve had other children as well. For Genesis 5:4 says: “And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters.”

This meant that Cain and Abel had sisters, and possibly other brothers not listed by name. These grew up together as earth’s original family. Where, then, did Cain get his wife? It was obviously from among his own family. His wife was one of his fleshly sisters, a daughter of Adam and Eve. Cain was likely married at the time he killed Abel, or shortly thereafter took one of his sisters as a wife. They then traveled together to the land of Fugitiveness, where they took up residence and started their own family.
So, really, the question of where Cain got his wife is not a difficult one. The answer is provided right within the Bible, and it becomes obvious when the Bible account is read carefully.

ADAM AND HIS CHILDREN TO GRANDCHILDREN TO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN

Genesis Chapter 4 tell about Cain, 5:3; Adam was 130 years old, Seth born, at the time Cain killed Abel. In 130 years there can be a large population.
Adam is created to 02nd year has a son named Cain.
Adam is created to 04th year has a son named Abel.
Adam is created to 06th year has a son.
Adam is created to 08th year has a girl.
Adam is created to 28th year has 4 & 4. 12 children. Has 2 granddaughter,
Adam is created to 48th year has 22 children, Cain 46, Abel 44, 42, 40, 38, 36, 34, 32.
Adam is created to 58th year has 25 children, gandchildren and great grandchildren.
Adam is created to 99th year has 45 children, 4 generation and cousins.

Adam age 130, Cain age 128, kills Able 126 and Seth is born. Cain takes a wife.

WHAT FATHER COULD BE AGE 130 AND HAVE A SON 128 AND 126, BUT ADAM?

Adam said, Eve was bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. None could be closer and the incest law was not in the land until 2515 years later with Aaron and Moses.

According to the Bible (See Genesis chapter 5) Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters besides Cain, Abel and Seth. Their names are not given in scripure. At the time Cain killed Abel, they were around 130 years of age. In that length of time Adam and Even could easily have produced additional children.

Cain's wife was one of his sisters. And he was married to her before he killed Abel. The Bible just says he had a child with her immediately after the murder.

There were enough other children (and probably grand children and great grand children) by this time Cain was concerned that someone would find and kill him. So there had to have been other people around - mostly likely descended from Abel if they would choose him over Cain.

And this information has been covered in my church on a regular basis. If it is not, you are always free to read and the strudy the scriptures for yourself. The answers are all in there.

My own study into Genesis might help you a bit here.

When God made Adam and Eve, he told them to be fruitful and mulitply.
The bible records the first birth of a male, but not of any females. I say this because part of the punishment for Eve is that her pain in childbirth was going to be greatly increased.

If she had no children yet, she would never know it was more painful. It seems that she had no sons yet, as when Cain was born, she stated the God had given her a man. Eve very well could have had daughters before sin entered the world.

The bible does state that after seth was born, Adam and Eve bore many more sons and daughters.

Ive wondered that too...when I asked about it I was told that Adam and Eve had many more children than Cain and Able and that they took a sister as a wife...I said ewwww isnt that incest and was told that Adam and Eve had perfect bodies and did not suffer the weaknesses of present day humans so it was not something that would have caused birth defect's......thats the best I got...good luck and I will be looking for a better answer on your question page.

It is not true what other people say that Cain and Abel is the only children of Adam and Eve.
The couple have many children.

Genesis 5:3 And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth.
Genesis 5:4 And the days of Adam after he begot Seth were eight hundred years; and he begot sons and daughters.
