Any probiotics or enzyme supplements that others find helpful? Preparation methods or food combinations that may help? I try to eat sardines and/or tuna several times a week for health benefits of fish, but it always seems to sit heavy on my stomach the rest of the day. Fresh fish doesn't seem to do this but fresh fish is far more expensive and less convenient. Canned fish is easier on my budget and my busy lifestyle but hard on my digestion. Thanks.

This is a several step process.

1. add a flavoring that you like (I like to turn tuna into curry tuna salad.) Something I like the taste of.

2. chew it thouroughly (after you get rid of the fishy smell and flavor this a lot easier than you think)

3. Eat it with bread, and other items that are easy to digest so it is not a lump laying in your stomach.

For the tuna: mix a can of tuna fish with a can of corn and some maionese, add a Little salt and a powder of black pepper for taste (if you like).
For sardines, boil one or two eggs hard, then mash them with a fork (not very small pieces). Cut a medium onion into very small pieces. Mix a can of sardines with the eggs and onion, add a little maionese, salt and a powder of black pepper.

Tuna is a great source of Protein. I would try getting a Protein shake and drinking it for breakfast 2 days a week and having a piece of fresh Fish 2 times a week. I did read somewhere that having a Protein shake early in the morning for breakfast is great. Perhaps a whey protein shake, It's quick so it will fit into your busy lifestyle and if you look online you can pick up some great bulk powders for around 20 dollars and they should last you a long while. There are alot of Protein shakes on the market,

Here is some info on Designer whey Protein shakes ( I chose this one because I have used it personally and I like the taste, It's not chalky like some shakes can be ) check it out and see if it could be a good option for your lifestyle. Also a Multi Vitamin might be a good addition too.

Q. I thought amino acids were the best way to get protein. Is this true?
No, it's not true, since free-form amino acids are poorly utilized by the body for protein synthesis. To get the amino acids your body needs, consume protein in the form of peptides (the best method) or eat whole, intact protein. In fact, scientists have found that protein in the form of peptides is absorbed much more rapidly - as much as 237% faster - than free form amino acids or intact protein. (2)
Not only does whey protein improve nitrogen retention better than amino acids, research shows it also stimulates protein synthesis 119% better than casein. When 30 grams of whey protein were compared to 43 grams of casein, whey protein increased protein synthesis by 68%, while casein increased it by only 31%. (3)

Q. Can too much protein hurt my kidneys?
Bodybuilders frequently consume 300-500g of protein per day for months - even years, yet there is no scientific evidence that this high protein intake causes kidney problems. In other studies, animals with high protein intakes for more than half their lifetime showed no kidney damage. (17) High protein intake may be hazardous only for individuals with abnormal kidney function or kidney disease. For the disease-free individual, the most serious concern with high protein intake is dehydration, because it takes a lot of water to metabolize protein. A new study just looked at the effects of a high protein intake on markers of safety in 20 healthy resistance-trained males.
