2/3 of a cup is more than 1/2.
Think of a pie. If you cut it in half(1/2) vs if you cut it into 3 parts, taking 2 of the three parts to make the 2/3

If you were to break one cup into thirds, you would discover that there are 3 (three) 1/3 cups in each cup. 2/3 is two of these and come before 3/4 of a cup and after 1/2 of a cup. Check your measuring cup!

1 cup = 8 oz
1/2 cup = 4 oz
1/3 cup = 2.64 oz
2/3 cup = 5.28 oz
As it looks on the cup measure from the top down:
1 cup
3/4 cup
2/3 cup
1/2 cup
1/3 cup
1/4 cup
Hope this helps.
