I love her. *Love* her. She is an African woman, raised Muslim, who left fundamentalism and an arranged marriage for Holland. She decided she was atheist after 9/11. She fought Islamic fundamentalism in her new country, faced death threats, and now lives and works in America with 24-hour security. She has written two books--an autobiography and a new one called "Infidel."

If you know who she is, do you admire her? Why or why not?

One cannot help but admire her courage, both physical and moral. If you are inclined to criticize her rejection of God, remember what idea of "God" she was raised with and decided to reject. It is no sin but in fact a virtue, to reject a false idea of God.

Can I ask you a question?. Did you hear anything about her before she started attacking Islam or fundamentalism as you are saying? I doubt.

To be honest with you I don’t admire her, here is a list of people I admire that you might have known about

1-Yvonne Ridley, a British reporter who was captured by the “savage” Taliban in 2001, they did not mistreat her as your army did with the prisoners in Abou Graeeb. And they released her after she promised to read the Quran.
She reverted to Islam in 2003 and you can hear her story at this google video as well as the story of 3 other reverters to Islam at this link

Here is an extended interview with her

you can go to her web site at http://www.yvonneridley.org/ and take a look for yourself

2-There is Jonathan Birt, the son of Lord Birt and a lot of other UK elite you can read about them at this link

and you can visit his web site at http://yahyabirt.com/?page_id=15

3-Then there is Yusuf Estes who used to be a pastor and you can visit his website at http://www.islamtomorrow.com and maybe know about his experience.

4-I can also list Cat Steven and a bunch of other people who knew what Islam means and found the inner self peace they were looking for.

Let me know if this list is not enough to balance the single name you gave so I can provide you with more names.

God bless

I think it's wonderful that she escaped the atrocities and oppression that came from the false religion she was raised knowing. I am glad she found the courage to speak what she believes to be the truth, especially with death threats made against her. I just wish she would finally find God.

May God Bless you.

she is only interested in herself and publicizing herself.
I'm from the Netherlands, and I am happy she left.

It sounds like she would fit right in in the US.
