It asks for a Windows Vista Ultimate Edition key code in which i have mis-placed, and cannot seem to find. So i dont have this key code, and now it just brings me back to the user page!

DId you mis place the key or did you download Vista off the net?

It seems to me that you aren't legit because why else would you loose the key.. and to mis-place a key is just our right stupidity

If you downloaded Vista Shame on you and if you acually bought Vista Ulitmate then you are just dumb and you shouldn't own a computer.. I'm surprised that you know what a desktop is.

And if you want Ultimate then buy it.... i don't agree with the price but hey i'll pay for it if i want it that bad i'm not that stupid to download it off the net and then go OH NO it isn't like XP wwhere i can access my stuff for 30 days!? I bet your Version of XP is illegal, I also bet it is SP1 and crapy cuase you can't do updates because you need to have a VAILD CD-KEY.

What you need to do is find a store that will pity you can give you Windows2K or lower for real cheap cost though they aren't supported anymore by microsoft.

Oh ok, you need the windows vista disk to reformat your hard drive and reinstall XP using an XP disk.

I would try to find the key code, thats an awful lot of money to spend only to lose it...

Good Luck!

If you have proof that you legally purchased Vista, contact Microsoft and they can help you. Otherwise, your only option is to reformat your hard drive (making sure to rewrite the MBR) and reinstall another OS, and hopefully learn your lesson about not breaking the law in the future.

Use your Windows XP CD. If you don't have one then you should use your system restore CD that was provided with your computer when you bought it. If you have neither of those then you should check your manufacturer's website to see if there is a downloadable image file for the system restore CD.

If you got as far as activating it (which seems doubtful based on what you wrote) call Microsoft.

If you didn't ............. wow, dude ............ sucks to be you!!!

Time to reformat the drive with your WinXP disc ....... if you didn't lose that too!!

Welcome to the Disgruntled Vista Users Club. I think it's like the HAL 9000 --- you can't uninstall it, it won't let you!
