I am looking for a restaurant that serves a variety of cuisines such as Szechuan, Hunan and Mandarin, but also serves good Cantonese food like fried rice and egg foo young. Help!

Heng Wing is by far the greatest place in the northwest suburbs. Szechuan House is ok, I guess, but Heng Wing pretty much blows it out of the water!
It is also located in Palatine.

Otherwise you'd be looking at PF Changs or maybe Big Bowl, which are good, but that does not sound like what you are looking for.

In Elk Grove Village, there is a place called "Pea Pod", it is on the corner of Arlington Hts Rd and Biesterfield.....there is never anyone in there & it's just a cute little place but it's SOOO good!!
Of course, you can always just go to Woodfield Mall & hit up P.F. Chang's but I prefer Pea Pod
(or, if you're okay with 'asian' in general, Stir Crazy is always an excellent choice!)
I would suggest hitting up Yelp.com & see what is around.

It's been quite a while, but I thought Jockey in Hoffman Estates was a good one, squirreled away on Roselle and Higgins. Hong Kong-styled Chinese.
