I'm 26 and had a mastectomy 6 years ago. I ordered a mastectomy bra from a Dr. Leonard's catalog, but it was not very comfortable. I don't like the ones that have a line going right through the middle of them. I have a hard time finding anything in my size 34B.

I was 29 when I was diagnosed and I got my 1st two mastectomy bras from a local fitter. Two. Two bras to last a whole year, according to my insurance...yikes. But they were very expensive. I ended up going to eBay and bought new ones for half the cost of the ones from the fitter. You might want to give that a try since they are so expensive. Good luck, keep on keeping on sister!

Look through your local telephone book for pharmacy's that sell prosthetic bras. Usually they have a nurse who can help you and if they don't stock what you need they can order it. Also the American Cancer society may have answers. There are some regular retailors that sell them also such as JCPenney has a catalog of bras and prosthetic inserts. I believe that they also sell the inserts and then you could purchase the bra of your choice anywhere that sells what you like and insert the prosethesis.
Have you considered reconstructive surgery? There is a surgery where they pull up the abdominal muscles and make a breast out of it. The appearance is amazing, hard to tell it was a muscle at one time. Good luck to you, I hope you find what your looking for.

My mother has had a mastectomy and we ordered her bras through a medical supply company. They were very helpful and the bras were here in no time. Also, I have found them in Nordstroms and if you go to blair.com, I have recently seen them in their catalogs.

First of all, many hugs for what you are going through.

The hospital where my father was being treated for lung cancer , had a great store in it for such items. They provided my dad with great items when he started losing his locks, he was quite the good looking fellow at 72. Maybe wherever you were treated has something similar, if not here is the website of the place we used http://www.humc.com/lazarshoppe/

They are incredible people and if you live in the NJ/NY area, you can stop in and they will help with anything and provide counseling.

Good luck with your search!
