i sit next to this girl at lunch and ive kinda liked her for a while now. and so i set up a double date with her friend and my friend and got him to ask her friend first so it was all ready to go. were going ice skating and then out to eat after. so today i was at lunch and my leg was kinda touching hers and i nudged her to get he attention and i got kinda close and told her what was going on on friday and asked her if she was doing anything. she said shes not doing anything and that she would probably come on friday. whats the best way to go about holding her hand on the ice?

As naturally as possible. Like you do that kinda thing all the time.
Keep in mind, there's nothing WRONG with wanting to hold hands. It's just a perfect way to communicate to a girl that you like her. It's not bad or immoral or evil. In fact, it's the preferred way (it's better than words). If she doesn't like you, you'll know from trying to hold her hand.
One excuse that I used to use was when there was something I wanted to "show" a girl, I'd grab her hand and say "come here, check this out." For example, in a CD shop, you go around looking at CDs in a different area than her. Spend a few minutes on your own, browsing, and then get excited, go over to her and grab her hand and go "oh, check this CD out." and pull her over to where the CD is. A girl never refused it when I did that.
Or, if you're someplace crowded, you can just grab her hand to make sure you don't lose each other. That's chivalrous, as a bonus.

First off, that was a pretty smooth move there. Good job! Secondly, if she isn't a good ice skater and you see her flailing a little bit you might want to grab her hand to support her. Always skate next to her and play around with her a little bit on the ice. Also keep the conversation going. When you guys feel like you need a break offer to buy her some hot chocolate or something. But if things keep going well on the date then you'll feel when the right time to hold her hand is. Just go with your gut and follow your impulses.

Well, it would be better to find out if she is a good ice skater. If she is not that good, you can tell her you will skate with her to make sure she is safe. If she is very good at it, you can ask her to skate on one leg while you are holding her waist. But make sure you are a very good skater, for accidents do happen.

Honestly, do what you feel comfortable with. You want to show interest but let her breath. Just have fun and flirt a little and she'll get the idea.

If she is a little wobly say "can i help you?" and she should say yes and then you can hold her hand.. very romantic. or you could be like.. want to skate together?
