is there a software program i can get to convert movies that i download so i can burn them and watch????

i have d/l'ed a couple movies but i can't seem to play them or get the visuals ..i hear the movie...whatam i doing wrong??? Please be specific i'm dumb

You dont have a progam with the correct codec it sounds like. Each program has a different way of making a video file.

A good program for making your videos to dvd is nero. This program costs money but it covers all the major video formats.....

If your just wanting to watch them, try installing the major video programs.....Ill give you links. Tehse are all free downloads, and one of them should be able to play your video.....

this means you have the audio coded to decode the audio from the movie but you dont have the video coded to decode the video. thats why you can only hear the sound.

most popular coded nowadays are probably divx and xvid. you can download and install them and try again.
or if you want to be specific, use gspot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/) to see what coded are needed in order to play the movie correctly.

If you are using Winamp or Windows Media Player to watch these movies, you will probably need a codec package from Microsoft.

If you want to watch them on your computer get VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

If you want to make them play on a dvd player get DVD Flick:

For DVD flick, you will of course need a dvd burner and a blank DVD disc to burn it for your player. Also, depending on how fast your computer is, expect the process of converting the movie to DVD to take several hours.

yea tehres lots of programs but have downloaded alot of them

it depends on what you want to convert it to

if you wnt ot convert it to wmv and the file is avi or comething use

winavi - video convert most of the used files to wmv, rm and dvd
winavi mp4 to psp ipod mp4 and 3gp
flv video converter
flash to video
xillsoft - alot of converter

use divx player to play the file
