Mums appreciate anything from their children especially a lovely card, and a few flowers would be lovely. It is not the amount you give it is the thought. I bet she will be thrilled just by the fact that you remembered her birthday.

Hmm.... here's some ideas. Not necessarily have to do every one of them... just one or two if you can.
1) Buy her a nice bunch of flowers, card and a small cake with a candle in it. Make her a cup of tea or coffee, then bring through the cake.
Small gestures like that does brighten up someone's day. It does not have to cost the earth to do that.
2) You could check out somewhere like 'Doodles' pottery place and paint up a plate, tile or cup for your mum's birthday. We did that for mine... she loved it.
3) write a nice poem for her.
4) Invite a couple of her friends round for a little tea party. Make some sandwiches, biscuits and a small cake with tea and coffee. No need to make a big buffet!!
5) Put together a little album with all your favourite pictures of you and your mum also add in notes of happy memories and stories in it.
6) If you are artistic... draw or paint a little picture for her.
7) Bake her a cake
8) Take her out for a bar lunch
9) Take her out for a drive (if you have a car)
10) Take her to the museum (or any free places) and have treat her to a cup of tea and scone. Make a day out of it.
11) Make her breakfast in bed.
12) Take her out to the cinema to see a film she fancies.
13) A box of chocolates.
Your mum knows you are not made of money and will be graceful whatever you give her.
Hope I have given you a few ideas here and that your mum has a lovely birthday.

First of all, do not buy anything from Wal-mart. Mom deserves the best and something free such as handpicked flowers shows better value then cheap crap from walmart.
If you have $25 to spend, go to Sephora . They have lovely quality things that mommies really like! I recommend Urban Decay's Flavored Body Powder. If you don't have a Sephora, some major dept. stores cosmetics counters carry it, e.g. Nordstrom. This is an elegant and fun gift. They'll wrap it for you too.

My daughter wrote me a poem and put round it pictures of us all growing up and framed the whole thing. She is a student at Uni so couldnt afford to buy me anything. This was the best present ever as so much thought had been put into it. Each photo represented a line in the poem. It must have took her ages to work out . And it is something I can keep forever and hang on my wall with pride.

Pick her up a nice bouquet of flowers and a card. All moms love flowers and a sentimental card with a nice handwritten message from you will melt her heart. You can pick up flowers pretty inexpensively at Wal-mart or the grocery store.

YOU COULD BUY A NICE BRACELET OR WRIST CHAIN FROM CRAFT SHOP AND ALSO SOME LITTLE METAL HEARTS, 2 FOR THE NECKLACE TO REPRESENT YOU AND MUM, AND PLACE THE OTHER ONES ON THE BRACELET, OR PUT JUST ONE ON THE BRACELET, IF YOU COULD AFFORD 43 LITTLE HEARTS IT WOULD BE LOVELY , OR BUY PAPER HEARTS TINY ONES AND SCATTER THEM ON A BREAKFAST TRAY WITH A NICE CUPPA . OR PUT THEM INSIDE A CARD, ITS THE THOUGHT, ALL CHEAP FROM CRAFT SHOPS OR 99PENCE SHOPS. YOU ARE VERY THOUGHTFUL, SO ANYTHING YOU GIVE MUM WILL BE SPECIAL FROM YOU.
