Ever since I was a little kid, I haven't been able to stop losing things. At first, i was just a lucky pen or pencil or maybe a toy action figure, but now it's much worse with me losing keys, books, and even my wallet.

And when I say lose things, I mean just that. It's not a matter of misplacing it and finding it in my own home. I LOSE things in public places where anyone can pick it up and I won't notice until it's too late to go back and ask around. The only times I don't lose things is when I make it a hassle to gain easily have access to it by stuffing it into the bottom of my briefcase or backpack, but wih this comes a poor quality of work since I can't stay focused and get worried about where I stored my items.

How do I keep track of everything I'm carrying with me without losing focus on the task or job at hand. Please help!

Get carabiners in various sizes (those D-rings that are sold in dollar stores, and in camping shops) and plastic coils with retractable clips on one end (dollar stores). Place the wallet in a ziplock bag, thread the plastic coil through the bag, attach the other end of the coil to the carabiner and attach to your backpack's clip/ zipper hole/ anything sturdy enough in your bag to handle the constant weight of the wallet. There are wallets that have loops where you can thread a retractable coil through, with the other end hooked to your backpack or belt hoop. This will keep your wallet within your posession.

Please do the same thing with your keys. Make several copies, label each key, place a copy of a key (car, door, locker) within one keyring, have several sets of keyrings and keep in several areas (home, car, bag). Attach plastic coil to the bag: that way you need not remove the key from the bag.

Label your belongings, these lost items may not always be returned but it helps to locate the owner if there is a name and telephone number where you can be contacted.

It will help if you keep these things in their own places. For example: the wallet always go in the right back pocket or on the right side of the bedside table, the keys always in the left belt hoop.

It will also help if you can bring a bag so that your hand is free instead of juggling many items. Do attach a plastic coil around your wrist and hook the other end to the bag, that way it will remind you that something is connected to your body.

When standing up, look behind you, check your seat, the area around it (floor, table, window ledge) if you have something that belongs to you that you need to bring along.

Declutter and organize your surroundings. That will minimize searching time (if you need to look for things) and will remind you where to look.

There is NO solution to your problem! It's your destiny my friend! Your things don't want to be with you and that's it! I' m losing things my whole life! I'm not talking about little things, last year i lost two huge pieces of wood (i needed them to fix my couch)! They disappeared - and i haven't found any logical explanation about this! I recently came to the conclusion that there must be a goblin or something who keeps following me and stealing my things!!! Or that somewhere is a better place for things away from me, you and everybody else!!! You must learn to say goodbye! And laugh about it....!!!

p.s. if by any chance you get to catch that f***** goblin let me know!!!

You could always get a chain for your wallet. As for the other things I am right there with you...(dont have chain for wallet but happen to lose it time to time...I now have 3 wallets :) )

There are pills that are told to help your memory but I dont know much about them and wouldnt take them myself. Other then that just always think about the things you dont want to lose..

Try to put everything in its own place every time. If everything has its own spot and you put it back in its own spot then you will always know where everything is.
