said that there is nothing wrong with him. I noticed that he likes to chew on stuff on the floor and strings fromm around the carpet and anything dangly. Could he have some sort of blockage. He also has a hard time deficating. He drinks alot of water. What could be the problem? He eats dry food recommended by the vet. Is there a laxative for cats?

Try Science diet canned Hairball control. More canned food than Dry is easier on the stomach. But little meals not to much or it will get worse. Or you can if it continues to be a problem give Metamusil PLAIN 1/2 teaspoon mixed in some canned food with a little warm water, Give daily until he begins to be more regular. Then cut it down to maybe a couple times a week. It is my opinion He is eating weird foreign things in an attempt to help himself pass stool. Pets will do this.

Your suspicions may right on the ball! Take the kitten to another vet. Meanwhie you can give the kitty pumpkin (it is an excellent laxative for pets!). Buy the canned pumpkin pie filling type you get from the grocery. But if the kitty throws that up too, you need to take him to the vet and demand an x-ray to see if there is any blockage.

The vet recommended dry food? Nuts!

Yes, there is a laxative you can use for cats. We use Enulose with one of our cats, which can only be prescribed by our vet. You should probably take your cat back to the vet and have an x-ray done. They'll be able to see if there's a blockage.

Go buy Cosmic Kittty Grass" My Kiki had the same problem. The grass fibers bind with what he eats so it goes through and not back up. You can get in the pet aisle at walmartor any other store. All you have to do is grow it. and the cat will eat it. That's why cats eat grass when they're not feeling wel outside, Yo just need to bring the grasses inside. Am I making sense yet.

Make sure he doesn't have a urinary obstruction, it's where crystals form in his bladder and block his urethra. It can be caused by food he eats. It really only happens in male cats, so beware. This is serious and he could die if that's the problem. (my cat just died form that and I had no idea anything was wrong) But it could be nothing. If you doubt your vet, get a second opinion, I wish I had. Good luck with your cat, I hope everything works out :)

If he is throwing up everything he eats, he wouldn't have much stool to expel.
He might have hairballs, so give him hairball paste or start feeding him cat-food that has hairball therapy in it.
He might also have an allergy to the food you are feeding him.
Also, how much and how fast is he eating? If he eats to much at once, he will throw up. Try feeding him less food just over more times. If you feed him 2 times a day, break that down to 4 smaller meals.
Good luck.

I recommend you take your cat to a different vet and get a second opinion. He very well could have a blockage or a tumor or is just sick. He needs to see a vet that will take his condition more serious.

Our neighbors spent thousands of dollars trying to figure out why their cat kept throwing up. No answers. So, they kicked the poor thing out of the house and now he stays with us. We started feeding him "Meow Mix" Hairball Control Formula and he started to get better. We noticed whenever he would get sick in the beginning that it was mostly hair. Next time your cat gets sick, see what he might be expelling. Hope he gets better!

the anti-hair ball food & treats are high in fiber, so they would be laxative-like. he may just eat too quickly (mine do that sometimes, when i feed them after they completely run out of food for a bit) or he may tend to get something in his throat (a string or something) that makes him gag. he may have abig hair ball also, my cat vomitted a lot when he had one and the treats i mentioned above helped a lot!
good luck!
