windows xp hangs after 10 minutes or so of starting the computer. sometimes one or more programs hang and rest are working fine.

Your question answers itself! "sometimes one or more programs" designates to me that you have way too many programs running at once! Learn what Ram is and how it works!

Computer hangs could be caused by anything. It could be you need more RAM which is memory used in real time on your PC, or it could be you have a virus, or you could have a corrupted system file, or you could need to error check and defrag your HD, your HD could be going bad.

Without more information it is hard to diagnose the problem, I would guess, that either you need more RAM or you HD is out of shape or going bad.

Decrease no of softwares ..
Use TUNE-UP UTILITIES 2007 ..
