"i beg you to have patience
with everything unresolved in your heart
and try to love the questions themselves
as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language.
don't search for the answers,
which could not be given to you now,
because you would not be able to live them.
and the point is, to live everything.
live the questions now.
perhaps then, someday far in the future,
you will gradually, without even noticing it,
live your way into the answer..."
Rainer Maria Rilke, from "Letters to a Young Poet"

I love this quote so much, it really put life in perspective for me. I am a thinker, an overanalyzer (as most women are!), and I would let the questions in my life torment me. "but WHY doesn't he love me?" "what do I want to do with my life?"" "is there a god?'"when will I get married?" etc etc. Finding this quote freed me of that torment. I realize there is a beauty in the unknowing and so much to be learned and appreciated in those stages of wonderment. I love it, and I try to share it with everyone I can. I hope you love it too!

Martin Luther King, Jr.

"I have the audacity to believe that people everywhere can have three meals a day for their tired bodies, education and culture for their spirits. I believe that what self-centered men have torn down, men other-centered can build up. I still believe that one day mankind will bow before the altars of God and be crowned triumphant over war and bloodshed, and non-violent redemptive goodwill will proclaim the rule of the land 'and the lion and the lamb shall lie down together and every man shall sit under his own vine and fig tree and none shall be afraid.' I still believe that we shall overcome."

He touched the heart and spirit of this white man, his message transcends time and resonates in the lessons I teach to my two young sons, a message of equality, peace, understanding and a celebration of difference rather than a fear of difference. He was taken from us by a spiteful and ignorant man, a man who personified the evil of a society that feared a man of peace and solidarity. We miss you Martin, I miss you Martin..!!!

Kevin.

From the movie Road Trip, "A short-cut is suppose to be a challenge... if it was easy, it would just be the way." To me it just seems like something that is totally true and there is no hidden message... but think about it... if the short way was easy, you would always go that way wouldn't you? Very smart yet simple.

From "A League of Their Own"
"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great."
I read this every time I get discouraged about my job or my classes.

"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." Martin Luther King Jr.

because it speaks the truth you forget people that do not mean anything to you,,,but if it is your friend and there is no help from them you remember that forever
