If it's a migrain you might feel nausea, you might have blurred vision. It would be THE worst headache of your life. You would feel like your head got smashed with a baseball bat.
IF this is the case. A cold compress, and go into a DARK room, close your eyes, no noise, no caffeine. Try ibuprofen if you can take it.
Read this:
More than 28 million Americans — three times more women than men — suffer from migraine headaches, a type of headache that's often severe. Although any head pain can be miserable, a migraine headache is often disabling. In some cases, these painful headaches are preceded or accompanied by a sensory warning sign (aura), such as flashes of light, blind spots or tingling in your arm or leg. A migraine headache is also often accompanied by other signs and symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound. Migraine pain can be excruciating and may incapacitate you for hours or even days.
A typical migraine headache attack produces some or all of these signs and symptoms:
Moderate to severe pain — many migraine headache sufferers feel pain on only one side of their head, while some experience pain on both sides
Head pain with a pulsating or throbbing quality
Pain that worsens with physical activity
Pain that hinders your regular daily activities
Nausea with or without vomiting
Sensitivity to light and sound
When left untreated, a migraine headache typically lasts from four to 72 hours, but the frequency with which they occur can vary from person to person. You may have migraines several times a month or just once or twice a year.
Not all migraine headaches are the same. Most people suffer from migraines without auras, which were previously called common migraines. Some have migraines with auras, which were previously called classic migraines. If you're in the second group, you'll likely have auras about 15 to 30 minutes before your headache begins. They may continue after your headache starts or even occur after your headache begins. These may include:
Sparkling flashes of light
Dazzling zigzag lines in your field of vision
Slowly spreading blind spots in your vision
Tingling, pins-and-needles sensations in one arm or leg
Rarely, weakness or language and speech problems

Have you ever had this before?
If this is the first time... Call your doctor immediately! You may have a migraine or it could be an indication of something much more serious!!! Sudden onset headaches (for people who don't get headaches) are often the first symptom of a serious illness. You need to rule this out. If you check out fine, they will give you something for the pain.
Do not delay.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Have you taken anything for it like Tylenol, Motrin, or Excedrin. The only other thing is to take cola put it in the freezer till it is really cold, and before it freezes drink it as fast as you can. The rush of cold, sugar, and caffeine can get rid of headaches. Caffeine is one of the ingredients in some migraine medications.

I get these a lot. Try putting a bag of ice on your head. Also lie in a dark, quiet room for awhile. My migraines usually went away within an hour when I did this. I hope that this helps.

Your comments suggests it may be nerve related as there is a sharp pain when you move. Alternating heat and cold compresses on the neck may help. A visit to a chiropractor could also be helpful. If symptoms persist more than 24 hours, consider seeking professional medical advice.

Take a trip to your Dr, if it is a migraine you wouldn't be able to pick your head up off of your pillow if it gets to a real bad stage and then you won't even want to open your eyes.

you should call your Doctor and ask them some question. it could be a migraine or it could be something else. if you want try not drinking any soda or eat any chocolate. that should help a little. also mixing advil and excedrin should help also. by mixing you have one med for pain and the other to reduce pressure.

You need to see a doctor!
A head ache may not be a sign of something wrong with you head, but it could be a sign that something else is wrong.

I've been having the same problem. Go to your doctor, they'll probably make you go get a sinus x-ray to see if it's that. If not they'll probably just prescribe you something.
