Just because it says so?

What if I trust the Yellow Pages instead, just because it offers the "Need Something?" ?

What (outside the Bible) should convince anyone of trusting the Bible?

We should trust the Bible because there are no contradictions and it is God's word. Wait a tick.........there are contradictions in the Bible and God obviously has horrible writing skills. Go for the Yellow pages, they are at least truthful. The Bible is like Aesop's Fables, except not as well written and actually very contradictory. So actually that was an insult to Aesop's Fables to even compare.

The Bible offers guidance in matters of morality, it describes effective solutions to the problems of crime, hunger and pollution. If the Bible is merely man's word, then logically there is no clear answer to mankind's problems. Abraham Lincoln called the Bible "the best gift God has ever given to man,, But for it we could not know right from wrong.
Bible is also unique because of the claim made by it many writers. Some 40 individuals includings priests, kings, shepherds, fishermen, civil servants, one general, and a physician. The Bible answers questions only God can answer. All of the writers made the same claim that they were inspired by God in the writing of their parts of the Bible.

The honest truth, you can't honestly trust any religion without "faith" that it is real. When you are open to it, it will reveal itself to you. . However there is plenty of proof to back up the bible. For instance There is believed to be a Large ark buried in a high mountian surrounding the area where the bible says it landed. (accoriding to the satalite pictures) also, there is scientific proof that the world experinced a large flood at one point. (discribed in the bible) Also there is scientific proof that jesus did exist due to other writings (not the bible) There is also proof that the world was one big continent at once (look at map and land platelets, they fit together like a puzzle) in the bible it describes a man trying to build a latter to heaven and god seperating the land and seperating them and caused them to speak different languages so they could not communicate such foolish things.

Anyone can scrutinize these things, but like I said, to have any religion you need "faith" and that is the beauty of having a "belief" in god, or in your religion.

It is not about trusting the Bible. It is about trusting in God and His word. It is because you trust HIM and His word that you read the Bible to better familiarize yourself with His way and trust that He will open your heart to the truth of His word when reading it. He wants you to read it because you want to, not because you have to. Afterall, that would not be free will would it?

Most people use the Bible to support/prove and justify the Bible. It's kinda silly logic isn't it? I always enjoy those arguments. And I have asked people what prophecy in the Bible has come true - most people reference the prophecies regarding the birth, life, and death of Jesus. It's lost on them that if we question the Bible we might not believe that Jesus existed (or was the son of God, if he did exist), so using that as support is futile.

We should trust the Bible because someone reliable told us to do so and that is JESUS.

John 5:39 Ye search the scriptures, because ye think that in them ye have eternal life; and these are they which bear witness of me;

In the Bible, it tells us that Jesus said that He was going to send us the Holy Spirit, and that we would receive spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues, healing, prophecy and others.

Millions of people today have these gifts.
Go to a Pentecostal or Apostolic church near you to see it for your self. If you are brave, you could ask them to pray for you, asking Jesus to make Him self real to you.
