I've found a fairly comprehensive website about the Bay of Islands, I used it to book a hostel (The Moustrap - Highly recommended) when I went there in November:

The best website to look at for hostels in NZ is http://www.bbh.co.nz/listings.aspx?bbh=list&aid=213, though you could also look at http://www.yha.co.nz/. I stayed at the YHA hostel in Paihia, which certainly fulfilled your criteria of being clean and quiet. Many of the hostels in Paihia are in the same street, but apparently some get quite noisy. I'd look at the BBH site, as there are ratings there from people who've actually stayed at each hostel.

Hi there... you could visit sites like http://www.travelsntrips.com

In fact, I was looking for information on Sydney, Australia and ended up getting travel information not only Australia but whole lot of other destinations as well.

Although this site does not hold specific information, it is subscribed to google ad sense. Google posts extremely good links on this site.

If you do not get the exact match to your location, use the search bar provided in http://www.travelsntrips.com

Hope this helps you. Happy peaceful vacationing...
