It's actually got to do with the fact mainly that women seek medical attension sooner and more regular than men do...even though by looking at nhs statistics we would see women are hospitalised and take up more NHS time and resources than men do...which we would think means they get sick more often but thats not the case, its just women hav been socialised into expressing their feelings and saying when sometimes wrong, whereas men have been taught.."big boys dont cry"...to show, express emotions and to be sick is seen as a sign of weakness...whereas men are supposed to be the strong ones..so men dont seek medical help, therefore they die of diseases such as prostate cancer that if caught in the early stages is treatable!

From birth, females are generally stronger and more resilient than males. As adults, women tend to be more conscious of eating properly, seeing a doctor sooner for problems, and taking the doctor's advice more seriously. Men, weaker from birth, generally do more dangerous things, eat more junk food, drink more beer, stay away from doctors, and deal with problems less effectively. They hold their emotions inside, don't want to be seen crying, so they build their stress level. Men are less likely to control high blood pressure, weight, and cholesterol levels than women.

My best guess would be that we women have been allowed to express our emotions in a variety of ways that men have been unable to. Societal pressures throughout history have warned men that to cry and express emotion wasn't a "manly" thing to do. Holding back the free expression of one's feelings good or ill causes a part of men to shut itself off, bottling them up and allowing for dis-ease to have an easy target.
IMHO

The number one cause of death in the United States is heart attack and those kill more men than woman because men refuse to visit the doctor. Most men blow it off as mild chest pain or heart burn, etc.

Oestrogen, the basic female hormone tends to slow the aging process. oestrogen is also somewhat cardio-protective so it delays the onset of heart attacks.
(Also on a lighter note we men spend our lives trying to live with women, get worn out and die young)

"generally speaking"...men won't go to the Dr and find out what is wrong with them, until they are almost at deaths door.
