dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb! (South Park)
Seriously though, I think Mormon people themselves are absolutely wonderful people.
My problem is with the Church itself. The Church owns almost $50 billion in assets, and unlike nearly all other Christian Churches, doesn't provide financial statements to its members to account for the money. The Church tells its members that General Authorities are given "modest allowances for living expenses" in exchange for leaving secular jobs and serving the Church full-time, but doesn't disclose how much.
In 1983, a new member of the second quorum of the seventy (below the first quorum of the seventy, the presidents of the seventy, the presiding bishopric, the quorum of the 12 and the first presidency) started at $40,000, as reported by the NY times. Adjusted for only 3% inflation, that would be over $85,000 today. And keep in mind that this is the lowest-paid General Authority.
The President of the Church lives in a $1.2 million condominium in downtown Salt Lake City (as reported by the SL Tribune), which is NOT TAXABLE to the State of Utah in terms of property tax.
The Church places women at a lower importance than men. I am a man, but I still think women deserve to be treated as equals. A man in the Mormon church can be 'sealed' to as many women as he wants (and could be married to them back when polygamy was practiced), yet a woman can only be married or sealed to one single man. A man can be saved by himself, but a woman has no hope of exaltation unless her husband is righteous and calls her out of the grave in the resurrection.
Joseph Smith's account of the first vision he had (in 1823) included just Moroni, until 1834 when he added a previous vision (in 1820) of Jesus Christ. Then, in 1838, he claimed that in this 1820 vision, he also saw God the Father.
Smith claimed that there were six-foot men that dressed like Quakers living on the moon and who lived to be 1000 years old. Later, the LDS Church said he was speaking his own opinion instead of speaking prophecies in the name of the Lord. In the instances where there are documented "In the name of the Lord" prophecies that ended up being wrong, the LDS Church claims they are biased and not well-documented, or that they were taken out of context. For instance, when he said that if the "Government of this Country" didn't pay the Church for damages made by persecution, that it would be "overturned, not so much as a postherd left." and that "the cities of Boston and New York will be destroyed". since none of that has happened, they claim that "government overturned" meant simply that the whig party lost popularity and became obscure, and that Boston and New York also had new city councils and mayors.
There's just a lot of double-standard.

I think Mormons are nice people. They know more about their religion than most other people do about their own. Just because you don't agree and/or understand their teachings doesn't mean you should bash them.

I have friends who are LDS and their as nice as my Christian friends. As for bashing the LDS and their missionaries have no problem telling you that your church is corrupt and of the devil.
