Fascinating and horrifying. And that's a serious answer. The architecture, the pageantry (the smells and bells), all the saints and popes, the chants, I find beautiful and compelling. That people take it all so seriously and allow it to so dominate their lives and eclipse their intellects I find shocking and sad.

I'm Catholic and I have to tell you...I'm not sure what to think. The church as covered up atrocious acts and there is no conscionable reason why. It's disgusting and embarrassing to all those Catholics who are GOOD people. I am coming to the realization that the church itself is a business, you know, the people who are running it. BUT, the spiritual side is something that is just a part of who I am. I guess you have to separate the "faith" from the church.....know what I mean?

Kinda funny though. Im happy to be Catholic. Its strange that most of you think its a "terrible organization" like Islam just because many Catholics are serious in their religion like the Muslims. So stop hating Catholics and Muslims! You make so many d**ning posts yet you do not even have any evidence whatsoever and what you post is based is purely based on your extremely strange perceptions. Oh yeah we only worship God not statues. WE honor the saints and the dead not worship. Dont post unless your sure its not a lie. Most posts here are purely lies with no basis. Why do you want it taxed? It collects money and gives it to the poor and homeless and those affected by war, disease, etc.

I love the Mass and the prayers and the physical beauty of Catholicism. But I believe they present only part of the picture. It's not about avoiding Hell, it's about the inability to merit Heaven, and that doesn't mean Purgatory as middle ground! Catholics DO exhort us to a holy life, they DO conduct themselves in the fear of the Lord. But it's the why behind the why that keeps me from becoming Catholic myself, and so I describe myself as one with a little 'c'.

I think that the catholic church is the start of what Christianity is really suppose to be today.

Multi-trillion dollar per year business. If you have ever been to the Vatican, you will then understand the financial wealth of the Catholic Church. A church that says to it's followers to give and that the poor shall inherit the earth and that Jesus said that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter heaven (not sure which journalist was there recording his statement), but has more land, art, cash, etc than any other entity on the planet. They should be ashamed of themselves. And they are extremely corrupt as well, attempting to influence the world and get back into the drivers seat of politics. Granted all religions are corrupt on many levels.

Do you mean "Roman" Catholic?

Do you mean Anglo-Catholic?

Do you mean Byzantine Catholic?

KATH = "according to" HOLOS = "the whole"

The Creeds of Christendom know of only ONE, Holy, Katholikos and Apostolic Church.

Lots of weird doctrines and dogmas, like worshiping idols.
That is prohibited in the catholic bible to worship stones, woods, etc.

1John 5:21 My little children, guard yourselves from idols.
