I have 3... just starting out...
1) I have a perfect compass on my back- all black, four main points, with each of the smaller points in a more outward circle. It was my first- i was 19, i was feeling lost. It comes from the front cover of one of my favorite books
2)I have a key on my left wrist. Black, white and Grey. It's small and designed to look like a key i always used to wear around my neck, it's from Egypt, and i wanted to preserve it forever. I was 21- i had a bad day and wanted to do something to make me feel happy.
3) I have a pair of snakes eating each others tails (plated together) On my right love handle. This is my biggest, black white and Grey. Based off of the auryn from the Neverending Story... my favorite movie growing up. It's for my "protection". 5 hours of work. I was 22, it was my gift to myself for graduation, and to remind me to never grow up.
Always planning for more...

No one 'round here has tats. We know god doesn't want us to. (j/k)
Five koi trying to swim up the Yellow River to Dragon Gate, the last seen making the transform into a dragon; it's halfway in the tat. It's a golden ocher color, three others are classic orange, one black-ish. Lotus flowers and other flora are in the water, and what could be one of the peaks of Taishan mountain in the background (I'm not saying).
I'm big on loading up multiple meanings into art. In this case, yes, it's very personal.
Unfortunately, I'm not done yet. One koi is done (older work), the koi-dragon got 95% completed last week and is still healing. The water shading - doing the classic there instead of blue - is complete. 3 koi plus the mountain remain and although it's a long way off we have a couple ideas on some extension of the art. I have a long way to go, and the artist isn't free again until early April. I'm also way busy at work - too many server & system upgrades, and I'm the only sysadm on staff who's also a developer. :(
At least I'm on her will-call-if-free list. Her art is definitely worth the wait.

I have 12, two nautical stars on my chest, three tats with some religous stuff that has been combined on my right arm into a half sleeve. An hour glass on my left arm. Jesus from a michaelangelo sculpture on my back. A scene from pulp fiction on my right shin along with the quote from the movie. Two scorpions on the backs of my calves. A suicide king on my wrist and some celtic knotwork on my right forearm. And many more to come.

I have 6- I have a tribal sun across my lower back (my "tramp stamp"), a butterfly on my right ankle, a half sun- half moon un my upper back in between my shoulder blades, a shooting star that I designed myself on the inside of my left foot and the "tail" curls down into my heel, my right foot is covered in blue stars that start on my big toe. I am having the exact same thing put on my left foot but in purple (the shooting star on my left foot is blue and purple) so my feet match. My newest is a large shooting star with 25 small stars around it (for my 25th birthday). The tails for the shooting star go through the little stars and some of the small stars are "negative space stars" (so that the actual star is my own skin and the "trail" makes the star outline). I love them all and have plans on getting even more....

i have two complete tattoos and one in the works.
one on my right foot, a memorial skull in purple and yellow. it is a realistic style skull tho, not cartoony.
on my left foot i have a korean takeout box with a fortune cookie, as a representation of my family, it is my newest and favorite.
i am working on a full backpiece which has a koi swimming up a waterfall with seven lotus flowers and a sea turtle. i have had 11 1/2 hours of work done on it and am not really even close to being finished! getting 3 hours done in march at a convention.

I have two tattoos that I have morphed into one. I have three black outlined stars, each about the size of a quarter grouped together and another small star in blue above them on my foot. Below the three bigger stars I have the initials of my Parents, my brother and I. The three big stars stand for my two best friends and I and the smaller star stands for my family.

I have a wizard with a glowing globe on me left bicep, my 1st tat, I got it 3 weeks ago, and can't wait for the next one. The next one will be a dragon behind a snowbank blowing snow and ice down on a penguin who looks like he is taking a shower.

I have an amazing black & gray butterfly on my lower back. It's about 8" wide x 6" high. It was designed and inked by a really great artist in my area. You can see a pic on www.tattoomike.com. Go to the black & gray gallery and scroll until you see my butterfly. (It's the first butterfly tat.)
I really want another one. Maybe on my foot...
