Depends on what theme youd like. You could carry spray of mixed corn, wheat, maize and other cereal grasses tied with a long trailing ribbon.Or just a simple spay of wild flowers and grasses with stems wrapped in silky or lacey fabric to match your dress.Or a single red rose for love tied with a white floaty ribbon.the contrast will be great against a whit or pale dress.Or a small crochet bag(colour to match dress) filled with a posy of lavander and green ferns. And none of these need cost much if nothing at all if you do them yourself.Have a beautiful day.

Hi There! I got married last august and had the same situation. I highly recommend Hydrangias (spelling off perhaps).. they come in a ray of pretty pastels, are full and cheap! Apx. $1 per flower and if you put 2 together you can get a full boquet! Also a flower commonly known as "stalk" is beautiful as well that goes lovely with Hydrangias. THey are cheap too and I had my bridesmaids have those and they are so pretty just wrapped with some ribbon.
As for centerpieces... you can get gardinas or roses and have them float in little fish bowls (a buck a piece!) with candles around them. I did them and those were a hit as well. It didnt cost that much.
Good luck!

It depends on a lot of things: budget, weather, etc. But I would choose your favorite flower if it's possible and then build fall flowers in colors to match. If you have a color scheme, say something like orange and blue, go to a florist or find a flower arranging book and find flowers that are those colors and that bloom during the late summer - that way maybe you can get them cheaper than spring flowers which are out of season. I would consult a florist, but in August I would go with summer flowers: black eyed susans, daisies maybe, etc.

Roses are always your best bet. They are the hardiest flower for bouquets, so they won't wilt in August heat. And because they can be purchased in bulk, they're cheaper too. There is a wide variety of colors too.
Another alternative, if cost is a major factor, are carnations. Carnations are actually very pretty flowers, and the colors (and multicolors) available are so stunning. There are also different sizes, too.

I would go with Carnations. They can be dyed to any color you want and are usually available at anytime. I had them at my wedding at the end of August and it was the hottest day ever. The flowers held up beautifully for a couple of days thereafter. They can be arranged good too. I had mine cascade down my dress in front. They are in a workable budget also. Good Luck! and God Bless.

hydrangeas absolutely! They hold up extremely well in heat, and will puff right back up if they are wilted by re hydrating for a few minutes. Also, there are many varieties in season in August. As someone else said, you can almost make a whole bouquet with just a few stems.

Check flower manufactureers.
They are cheaper if ordered in bigger amounts. Check greenhouses.
I'd go with a flower that wasn't in season!! It would make them more noticed.
