The Mayans thought so... nothing to do with the Bible but the Mayan calendar predicts a global disaster at the date13.0.0.0.0 which translates as December 20, 2012. This is the date that the Earth crosses the plane of our Galaxy, an event that happens only once every 26,000 years.

The Mayans lived about 2,000 years ago and were able to calculate the length of the Lunar Month within about 4 seconds of what it actually is.

Alternatively it could all be just so much BS... I'm hardly going to give up living (or change the way I live) based on the gamble that it all ends in 2012 or any other date.

The Bible is clear that we have been in the "end times" for quite some time. Here's an overview of prophecy:

1) Israel has been re-established as one country (instead of 2, as it was from after Solomon's death through the last diaspora) and the regathering of the people has been going on since that time. This was prophesied at Ezekial 37.

2) Jesus' parable of the fig tree is recorded at Matthew 24:32-35. (The fig tree is the ancient symbol of Israel.) He tells us that when Israel becomes alive again, the end is near. Israel announced about a year and a half ago that, for the first time in nearly 2,000 years, there are more Jews living there than anywhere else in the world.

3) Russia and Iran have formed a pact for the first time in all of recorded history. Ezekiel 38:16 tells us this will happen in the "latter days," a.k.a. the end times.

4) Eze. 38 & 39 also tell us Russia, Iran, Syria, Libya, and other Muslim nations will invade Israel in the end times. This prophecy is very near to fulfillment.

5) Jerusalem and Israel will be the cause of international disagreements and wars in the end times. Other nations will seek to take some of Israel's land away. (Zechariah 12:1-5). This has been fulfilled for the first time in history.

Jesus told us that the generation that sees the rebirth of Israel will still be alive when He returns. Are you ready?

NOT THE END OF TIMES

Eph.2:7; 3:21; The world with Jesus is without end. John 3:16; 2Pet.3:13; All made new
Rev.21:1-5;

All perfect was LOST in Eden, in time it will all be SAVED and made new again by a SAVIOR. No more Satan and unholy angels, no more goats or Gog and Magog.

Jesus said we wont know the day or hour, but we can look for the signs that it is near. I think those signs are all around us, but there have been previous generations who thought so as well. The main differences are that, as predicted in the Bible, Israel has come back into existence, the technology to produce that number (chip) which is in ones forehead or hand that is needed to do any financial transaction is here, the Roman empire is back in the form of the EU, and people are more screwed up than any time in recent history with the possible exception of the dark ages or pre Christian era. Revelations is tomorrow's headlines today.

Even as a Bilbe believing Christian, I don't neccesarily think we are in the "end times". Every culture since Christ has thought they were in the end times and drew Biblical correlations to support that belief. Some may argue the world is much more stable today than in ancient times. As far as references to natural disasters, I heard one pundit claim there have been more earthquakes recorded in the last 10 years than in all of history. I find this curious since we've only been recording earthquakes for about 80 years. Don't buy into the "natural disaster" hype. The earth is quite resiliant.

[51:13] They ask, when will the Day of Judgment be?'
[51:14] Say, 'It will be the day when they will be tormented with the torment of the Fire.'
[51:15] And it will be said to them, 'Taste ye your torment. This is what you asked to be hastened.'
[51:16] But surely, the righteous will be in the midst of gardens and springs,
[51:17] Taking what their Lord will bestow upon them; for they used to do good before that;
[51:18] They slept but a little of the night;
[51:19] And at dawn they prayed for divine pardon;
[51:20] And in their wealth was a share for those who asked for help and for those who could not.
[51:21] And in the earth are Signs for those who have certainty of faith,
[51:22] And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see?

~~~ tommy,,,, You forgot to name the one person in the world who "understands it". Try the Mayan Calender and it's date of Dec. 21,2012.....and to what definition is meant by "end"?
