It wasn't discovered. It was strung together out of a group of different texts around 300 AD. two groups put together two different versions to make the matter more complicated and both versions are still in circulation today. The earliest known English translations occurred around the year 1,000 and were in a variant of old English. they were an almost word for word translation of the old Latin translation, in fact it was written under the Latin translation in the only surviving copy. They earliest modern translations were in the the french cities of Douay and Reims in the 1500s (I am not sure about the spelling). A number of other English translations followed which lead to a concern brought up to King James about how confusing it was to have varying translations of the same verse so he authorized a new translation which bears his name although I don't believe saw it or ever read it.

The Bible has been passed down through the generations of the Israelites, not discovered., The NT was written in the years following Christ's death, and the scrolls just got copied and distributed and passed along until someone much later sat down and compiled them all into one book as we know it today.

John Wycliffe is credited with the first translation into English in the 1300's. Portions had been translated quite awhile before, but he did the whole thing.
