subs are meant to play low frequencies
your amp should have a slide switch the says FULL, HPF or LPF
put it on LPF
then turn the amp and the LPF all the way down
keep the gain(level) at about 60% so you dont fry the amp
go to the head unit and put the volume at what you normally listen to it at
then go to the amp and turn it up slowly until you like how it sounds
keep the LPF at about 60-70 hz

individually i'd use LPF and alter it from there (frequency cutoff and income) to maximise clean sign capability out of your amp, you're able to alter the income or enter sensitivity settings. this is how: Set the enter sensitivity controls of your amplifier to their minimum point (counter clockwise). put in a CD and turn the receiver's quantity administration up (you're able to enhance the amp's income basically a splash to take heed to the track). once you hear distortion, quit. turn the quantity down till it disappears. As lots sign as possible is passing from the receiver to the amp. This maximizes the sign-to-noise ratio, and leaves your equipment much less services to engine noise issues. save the quantity putting here. Now turn the income controls on the amplifier up till it incredibly is as loud as you will play it. in case you hear distortion, incredibly decrease the income settings. Now you have optimized the amp's output with the receiver's quantity set close to optimal. you could turn the quantity basically approximately each and every of how up and not harm your audio equipment or boost distortion. once you're hooking up a subwoofer, a try disc (or bass-heavy CD) is effective for making very final adjustments.

The guy above me is right....For my LPF on my HU also, It's a range of 0-120, I set it to 50hz, that's low and you will get more bass out of that as well, as tweeking up the amplifier settins too.

The lower the LPF, the more bass, the higher, less bass and more high's :) Capisce!?!? :)
