I have a really dry scalp that is constantly flaking off and making me feel very self-concsious. I am sure that it's not dandruff, but I've tried dandruff shampoos anyway to no avail. I have tried rubbing olive oil on my scalp, and that just makes my hair look really greasy, even after rinsing it out, but doesn't solve my dry scalp problem. Does anyone know of a good shampoo or home remedy that can help clear up very dry scalp?

I think there is a product called T-gel, meant to work wonders! Also would agree to not wash hair for a few days to let the natural oils come back.

Don't get too self obsessed about it, something will work for you!

wash your hair with vinegar first. This takes out all of the dry scalp. Then if you want to moisturize go with a hydration shampoo and conditioner or as gross as it may sound, don't wash your hair for a few days to let it get some of the oils back in it.

I would suggest using Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner it is great for the hair and the scalp you won't need to use it every day but if you use it like every 3rd day and then use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and take vitamins this will help with this winter cold weather that we are having. it is a strange winter and the weather effects us all differently, but it affects our skin in some way usually during it out, so the vitamins will help. Try vitamins A, C, and vitamin E for hair skin and nail vitamin will help to. Good luck!

I think you should see your doctor because he can prescribe a medicated shampoo or he/she may notice that you have access peeling that may be a form of fungus which is curable with medication. So if you have tried almost everything you can think of, you may have something else going on which your body. My husband has the same problem for years and I thought he had a bad case of dandruff but it was fungus. Good luck and I hope this will help you live a happy life.

Try showering and/or shampooing only every other day.

Find shampoos (not just conditioners) that are cremey and moisturizing...not clarifying or clear.

If you have tried everything to no avail, talk to your doctor or a dermatologist.
