Genesis : 10
24 And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.

1 Chronicles : 1
18 And Arphaxad begat Shelah, and Shelah begat Eber.

Till this moment, no problem as long as we consider "Salah" and "Shelah" the same person, BUT:

Luke : 3
35 Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala, (3:35-36)
"Sala which was the son of Cainan."
Who was Salah's father?
36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,

Now the question:
Who was Salah's or Shelah's father?
and Who is Cainan?

Genesis 10:24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah,[a] and Shelah was the father of Eber.
Footnotes:
Genesis 10:24 Greek version reads Arphaxad was the father of Cainan, Cainan was the father of Shelah. Compare Luke 3:36.

Luke 3:36
36 Shelah was the son of Cainan.
Cainan was the son of Arphaxad.
Arphaxad was the son of Shem.
Shem was the son of Noah.
Noah was the son of Lamech.

You do not seem to understand that some of these names were common at the time like James, John, or Jack may be today.
But you are to be commended for your efforts anyway.

Years ago I made a graphic of the Biblical family tree, and found no problems with it.

This is not a question for Christians.
You are in the Old Testament.
Also it would be a question for A Jewish teacher seeing they are still into that kind of thing.

Christians are concerned with Jesus.
Not all that begetting.

Pose your question to a Jewish teacher.

Trying figuring it out on your own. I think you are here to try to discredit God's Holy Word; therefore, you are a blasphemer and we shake the dust off our sandals.
