I have a very large, cyst-like pimple on my face. I've tried many things to get it to go away... toothpaste, topical acne medicine, exfoliating face scrubs, Acne Free face wash, and still seen no real results. I don't think I can afford to go to a dermatologist, does anyone know of a way to get this thing to go away? Today I got quite a bit of "pus" out of it, but it's still inflamed and very red. Is this thing on it's way out, or do I need to go see a doc. about it? Please help!

Sounds like it could be a Boil or clogged pore. You dont want to squeeze it , it could leave a scar. Try very warm compresses on the area. It may take several days to go. If it still hasnt gotten smaller then seek med. att.

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

That is why it won't go away.......you popped it. NEVER pop pimples. No matter how much pus is in it. Even if you use a sterile needle. First, you spread the bacteria and second, you damage the skin and the pimple takes so much longer to go away. You have cystic acne....you really should see a dermatologist. They can give you medication so you don't get those big things anymore. In the meantime-----NEVER PICK YOUR FACE!

first of all,,,, STOP MESSING WITH IT.. I know, it's a pain, and it hurts, and it's so relieving to pop the damn things, but it won't ever go away if u do that.

Try taking l-lysine - it's a supplement, the good stuff is found in tomatoes. I'ts great for your skin, and helps it regenerate itself. Warm compresses, like a hot hot damp towel for as long as u can stand it, it will help.

good luck, and no, most doctors won't give you anything for them, they will want to lance them, which does nothing much but leave a large scar on your face. try the l-lysine and see if it helps.

good luck!!

Wash your face thrice a day with luke warm water; this is to hydrate your face. Use Clearasil Ultra products, like the Spot Clearing Cream. It really helps. And if you are going out, use Oxy Cover cream to cover up the pimple. It not only covers the pimple, it also heals at the same time. Lastly, drink lots of water and have plenty of rest.

I get those too and they don't go away till they are good and ready to on their own. All the treatments and 'draining' you have been doing is what is making the cyst worse. Leave it be.

You can try, though, adding Vitamin E to your supplements. That does help.

Try as hot as you can stand steam, like holding your face over a pan of boiling water several times then letting it cool down this will help it to drain all the yuk......out and help it to go down. It has worked for my son Good Luck! Don't scrub your face hard with facial clothes apply lite pressure to cleanse the face and don't keep changing your facial cleansing products, find 1 and stick to it.

Toothpaste dries them out you can also use urine (hey you might be experimental!) Or baking soda or honey dab it on a small plaster then stick over spot for a few hours. You'l probably end up popping it... But resist good luck

Do not pop this pimple as that only spreads the staph bacteria. Since it is not going away and is infammed and infected see your doc for antibiotic therapy to help this.
