Um no. If it is not free for those who are working, why would it be free for those who do not work?

Yes it is free, but only if you are in receipt of some kind of benefit. E.g., Job-seekers allowance, income support, disability allowance, as you need to take these forms along with you to prove you are unemployed. Furthermore it is only free at a dental surgery that treats NHS patients. And the only treatment that is free is basic treatment such as a check-up, clean and polish, and amalgram fillings. If you need more extensive treatment (e.g. crown, bridge) then you get a discount.

In the UK it is as long as your receiving Job seekers allowance, or you or your partner are receiving income support, disability allowance or housing benefit does not count, and you'd need to bring proof of exemption with you.
If you opt for private treatment then obviously you have to pay.

Is your dentist NHS ? If so and you are under 19 or pregnant then yes. Otherwise you would have to pay an NHS charge, which is set fees, and are not too badly priced. If your dentist is private (as mine is) be prepared to be robbed blind !!!!!!
