how long should i leave the radio in a 96 saab 900s disconnested b4 it resets itself?

i need to reset the radio so it will let me put the code in my friend messed it by entering a bunch of wrong codes now it is locked and i have the right code but i need to reset it so i can put the code in. im looking for the fastest way possible so anything will help.

Okay don't panic all is not lost. Get yourself a battery charger with a low charge setting. Connect it to your battery and turn your ignition switch to the accessory position. Turn the radio on and just leave it on. Do this for a minimum of 3 hours. Your radio should reset and when turned off and back on again prompt you for the code. Good Luck.
