Well in America, I've set a budget of $6000. I simply will not go broke on a wedding - it's the marriage that's important not that wedding. My banquet hall (who also caters) cost the bulk of it, $3400 with a buffet dinner for 100. The trick is to find places that offer discounts if you use their caterer, cut costs by inviting only MUST have people (close family and friends) and whatever you can do yourself, do it (decorations, alterations, etc). And use your resources, your friends and family who can help or get you discounts on services (like printing invitations or limo services). And whatever you do, don't get stuck on traditions! What's a tradition to do may not necessarily be in your budget or even necessary for you and your fiance. Good luck.

Mine will be between $10,000-$20,000. Which would be approximately 5,000-10,000 pounds. I think you can get it cheaper in the UK.
I am having my aunt make the cake (used to be a pasty chef) my cousin to the hpotography (hes a professional photographer) and my other aunt make the bridesmaids dresses (pro seamstress). So i am saving alot of money there.
Do you have any friends who can do these things? As for the venue, are you insisting on a church wedding? For free or very cheap you could have it at the shore, outside, or at someones house.
If you try, you can save a ton of money on the wedding.

I do not know about prices in England but you do not have to spend a fortune to have a nice wedding. You could have it at your home or perhaps your church has a recreational space you could use. Check with the veterans clubs many of them here like the VFW will rent out their halls for a lot less than a catering place. If the weather is going to be nice you could hold it in a park and have a picnic style reception (you might need a permit you do in NYC) Start thinking out side the box and I am sure you will find something nice that you can afford Congratulations

sorry don't know how to convert to pounds. My wedding cost $5,000.00 but here in America I've known people to spend upwards of $200,000 (I'm not that rich) I've also known those who can do it for $2,000. Just depends. My advice to everyone is this: Spend less on the wedding, a little more on the reception and then save all that for a down payment on a house or future savings.

I don't know how to convert but I recently read an article saying the average cost of weddings in the U.S. is $20,000. I think in my area it is closer to $10,000.

ours cost 5,000.(church, reception, catering, etc.) We kept it simple and pretty. What really matters is that you have your closest friends and family to join in your celebration.
Enjoy!
