Most students are covered on their parents homeowners insurance policy. Another option is the get a renters insurance policy. The cost for this is anywhere from $50 to $500 per year. A typical policy gives $100,000 of liability coverage and X amount of personal property coverage. You can also select what you want your deductible to be.

most homeowners policies allow for 10% of the personal property limit coverage away from the premises.. Since it's at school it's a good idea for your folks to let their agent know.. especially if you're taking a computer that is worth some bucks.... most policies max out electronics @ 2500. so if your parents have one at home... and you have one at school....... do some addition.

If the school is requiring you to carry coverage. have your agent et an endorsement from your parents company... I know my son's college tried to tell me that we had to take out their overage. I wanted to speak to someone about it. RACKET..... someone had come on campus and set up shop.. just like those
credit card companies.. setting college students with outrageous interest rates

I don't know. My bro had his pc stolen from his dorm room in 1998. University's painters had come in and left his window unlocked. I'd take minimum valuables to university myself.

Endsleigh do that kind of cover btw.
