I am doing many manipulations on one spreadsheet. Problem is I cant copy cells made from other values. Like, compute some figures then try to copy them somewhere so as to make another computations. What can I do to speed up the whole thing.

If you are trying to copy the figures using Ctrl+C or copy command from Edit, it copies the formulas instead of values and when you paste it, it puts the same formulas there.

What you can do is, rather the doing a paste, do paste special and select value from there. This will put the value of the cell in new place instead of formula.

Just like MDTBA says.. all you need do is suppose you have made a manioulation in cell A1 and want it to be in Cell A2 for another manipulation in cell A2 just write +A1 or =A1 either combination will do the job. Its better this way since you will be able to get updated info in A2 whenever A1 gets updated.

Try this;

In the cell you want to bring the value to ie

Cell A10 has a formula that = $20.00 (adds the sum of A1..A9)

and you want whatever that value is, (whether you add to it or not) go to the cell you want the "current" value in and input,

+A10
in the new cell (ie B1). That way it will bring whatever value is in A10 to B1.

I hope this answered your Q

do you mean you are trying to copy the formulas into different cells, go to the help menu in excel and search "copying formula" and click on "move or copy a formula", or any other resolutions that come up.

When you're ready to paste what you've copied, you can either right click in the cell your copying to and hit "paste special" then select "values" ... or you can select "edit" on the menu bar and select "paste special" and then "values"... either way works the same.
