Surgery - any surgery - can be risky. There's always things that can go wrong. You could die. I don't want to have any more surgeries unless there's no way around it.

Also, gastric bypass is not without side effects and problems. You get the runs, for a long time, I'm told. And, if you eat certain things you get terrible upset stomach. You can also regain the weight you've lost if you're not careful.

A friend of mine was told that she can't even have this surgery, nor a surgery needed to replace a knee that disintegrated because of her severe obesity. She has to lose 200 lbs before the surgeon will even try it. Too much strain on her heart. It is hard to sit in a wheel chair and diet away 200 lbs. Until she does, she is a prisoner in that chair.

There's certain criteria to be met before a Doctor will do this type of surgery. The person has to be obese, high blood pressure, proof that weight is detrimental to health. Also, you can still gain weight if not careful. Stomach can stretch, even though shrunk to size of thumb.
