but iof it goes lower, than that is the one you are stuck with. If you already have a contract, you can try and retake it, and if it goes up, you may be eligible for more jobs, but if it goes lower, you are stuck with the one you have.

The ASVAB is used to help with placement of new recruits into the different MOS's. If you have already been placed in a job title then it most likely will not do much.
Also, there is a certain amount of time that a person has to wait (if memory serves) before retaking it. I was lucky enough to take it 3 times prior to joining. With my scores, I was able to do anything the military had to offer. I chose MP (should have gone AirForce SP instead, but oh well).
And, as the answerer above suggested, ask the recruiter.
Good Luck!

It could be a good thing if you score higher, but if you score lowere it will hurt you. Depending on the branch of service you chose, if you score lower on the test it may make you ineligible for your job that you chose. This does happen all the time for people on active duty. They retake their ASVAB to see if they can switch jobs and most of the time they score worse than they did the first time. Also, the MEPS and your recruiting station have to be onboard with you retaking the exam. If they say no, you won't be retaking the exam. Since you aren't in DEP, my guess is they won't be letting retake the ASVAB.

You may and you may not. Unless you're an ASVAB waiver, they porbably won't let you retake it unless it's extremely necessary. It all depends on who's procsessing your recruitment, having a squared away recruiter helps. The military always takes the higher score. I was allowed to take my test again because I was going back to active service, got the same score: 80+.

Yes, retake it if you think you can do better. Your ASVAB score can affect you changing MOS now or in the future, you always wanna score as high as possible on ANY test with the military.

you can retest every 6 months, if you don't have time to take it before going to basic training wait til you get to your unit and retest. On every Army post there is an education building you can go to and sign up to take the test. They even have free classes to help you prepare for the test but you have to had your commander's approval since it is during work hours. And yes the higher your score the more jobs can qualify for. Good Luck!!

Since you are on delayed entry, you are already under a contract. A higher score will not effect that contract, but it could help you in the future.

be advised YOU ONLY CAN RETAKE THE ASVAB 1 TIME. you can also retake it while you are serving. i only advise this if you are undesignated though. it will help you become eligibly for more rates. IF YOU RETAKE IT AND SCORE LOWER YOU ARE STUCK WITH THE LOWER SCORE SO STUDY STUDY...

You can take it multiple times (4 times myself when reentering)
When you take it though your current score stands so if you do worse you are stuck with it.
