Use a jug with a smaller spout!

Generally your skin becomes greasy in appearance within an hour or two after cleansing, and remains that way throughout the day. The pores are usually enlarged. This is usually hereditary, but is manageable through proper diet and skincare. The usual method for dealing with this type of skin is to dry it out. This is just a temporary fix though, which just creates more of the same as the body tries to lubricate the dry surface. I prefer to treat this skin as more of a normal skin type, don't dry out, and don't add too much oil. Eventually the oiliness calms down. There are ways to reduce pore size naturally, which helps the overall appearance. Cucumber and Tomato will be good choices to reduce large pores (mash and apply, or mix with yogurt for more creaminess). Also clay masks (look for Bentonite or Fuller's Earth at your healthfood store) will help to purify and tighten the pores. Just make a paste by mixing with water.

Certainly well performed “physical” exfoliation can indeed cleanse cellular matter caught beneath the surface. But poorly executed, glands can be ruptured contributing to sudden acne flare-ups. What they don’t do however is tackle those other contributing causes of large-looking pores. Chemical based treatments can often succeed in solving multiple issues. Sometimes a strategic combination produces the best results. Targeting the key factors that cause exaggerated pore diameter quickly minimize visibility.

Unplugging debris

Eliminating bacteria

Reducing excessive oiliness

Removing blackheads

Smooth out the edges

Reduce sun damage

Draw the pores closed

It's spelt pores.
Anything cold will reduce the size of pores: ice/cold water etc.
However it's probably the blackheads that you are noticing in the pores that make them stand out - try a face pack and a good exfoliating cleanser at least once a week. Make sure it is oil free and do not use soap. You could always get one of those little face brushes that you use with facial wash - they're great!

And lastly - try filling a bowl with boiling water and put your head over it with a towel over your head for 5-10 minutes. Steaming your face can help to unclog blackheads and make them easier to remove afterwards.

I'm not sure which natural methods work best. You might want to consider witch hazel as an astringtent.

If that doesn't work out, I know that Biore has a pore minimizing line of cleansers, toners and moisturizers which I use from time to time when my skin looks a little oily or my pores seem larger. They sell the line at drug stores, so it's cheaper than buying something similar at a high priced department store.

I too had this problem and I started using Bio Oil and my skin has improved immensely. After the 1st week my skin was softer, More even tone etc and make up just glides on (if i want to use it that is!). bio Oil is made up of lavender oil, calendula and rosemary oils as well as purcellin oil It costs from approx £9 for the smallest bottle but it lasts months because you only use a little bit twice per day. Oh an I don't need my usual moisturiser anymore so I am saving money there!! I would recommend anyone try it :0)

Stay active and exercise. Stretching exercises will help ward off stiffness. Stay hydrated: If your body is dehydrated, it increases the pain from inflammation. Supplements: Some people swear by Glucosamine - but it hasn't been proven effective for those who suffer with arthritis in the back, or joints prone to impact such as the knees. Eat Spicy Foods: Foods containing hot peppers as an ingredient naturally decrease inflammation. Capsacin is the substance that allows this to happen. I am assuming that you want to avoid medication. However, some OTC medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen can offer some relief on days where the symptoms are more severe.

A wonderful natural method is using witch hazel. It's an astringent and helps close pores. I use it after cleaning my face. I put a little on a cotton swab and rub it all over my face. Let it dry then apply a good moisturizer. You can use it several times a day. It's very gentle. You can get it at any drug store for like $1.50 a bottle. Hope this helps.

They say that people that sunbathe alot can get enlarged pours. Also washing your face with cool water closes the pours, this wont get rid of them cos we need our pours but it may reduce their size.

I use medicated Vaseline. It works wonderfully for me and the medication in the Vaseline prevents blemishes. You want to apply it to your face at least 30 minutes before applying make-up or leaving your home. It soakes into your skin, evens out blotchy tones, closes pores and keeps skin smooooooth. I also only wash my face in cold water.
