Some say they reject Jesus as the Messiah because if Joseph was not His biological father then He could not have been from the house of David, in accordance with the prophecies. Question: Is there any line of descendency that is higher or more representative of the true house of David than one descending directly from God the Father?

Even if God was his Father, Joseph wasn't, and Mary was his Mother... Mary's geneology is forbidden from birthing a messiah as well.

No matter how you cut it, when the geneologies were included in the NT, your Jesus fellow was condemned as a false prophet.

Abdul: David was a messiah, as was Solomon. Messiah means only 'annointed one'. This refered in Jewish culture, originally, to the Royal Annointing oils applied to a king. So any king of israel would be annointed with these oils and thus become Mosiach. This is another mark against Jesus, as he'd never have been allowed anywhere NEAR the royal annointing oils, and HaMosiach must pass through all that any other Mosiach would pass through.

That's like rejecting that a tuna fish could be the Loch Ness Monster because the accounts say it's eyes are blue and not brown.

There's really a lot more going on there. For one most of us reject the idea that God exists. And I read the topic today about his remains supposedly being found, with a retort of "they were poor, they lived in Nazareth...." Ok, so a child of the house of David is poor? And living in a place that didn't exist back then? Instead of Nazareth the more likely translation is Nazarene, which was a political movement.

I've never heard of people rejecting him for that reason.

I reject him because I dont believe he is who people say he is, if Jesus the man existed Then Great but I just dont see him as being God. I still live by the moral code that is in the Ten Comandments except the one about not having any Gods before the God of the bible, unless that God was Netjer, which is very posible.

I'm a tameran Wiccan.

Now who is more likely to be right the Jews who understand Hebrew? Or Christians who don't understand Hebrew. It seems to me that there's a reason why the Jews don't accept him as the Messiah. Anyway there are many people who are not Christians. Everybody has different religions. I have no religion at all. I am Agnostic. I am Agnostic pretty much about all gods.

actually, Mary was a direct decendant of David, and as customary in that time, if a man had no son, they would adopt the husband of the oldest daughter into their family... and that made Joseph a decendant as well. also, Joseph was part of the Davidian line thru his father also, but it was the branch that was said would not have a king....

It is not the parentage that is at issue (although one has reason to doubt that god is well supplied with Y chromosomes), but the entire notion of a messiah, and the usefulness of such a thing. There is no evidence of any sort to suppose the need for such.

Easier answer then that. Look in Luke chapter 3. You will find Jesus' bloodline through Mary, his mother (who was his biological parent). He was of the House of David through her bloodline also.

the Jews dont believe Jesus was the messiah, except for the Jews for Jesus, and they are considered CHRISTIANS!

Anyways, I liked the older Gods and Goddesses, they didnt rule with threats, slavery, blood and war.

Never heard that one. I will have to try it now. Plus, I thought she was from the House of David also.
