Usually, every time I sprint, I get bad headaches. Well yesterday, we were timing our 100m dash times and about 5 minutes after i ran mine I got the worst headache of my life and started throwing up. I usually get the headache, but never that bad, and the puking was constant for about an hour. I went to the doc and he said i had a virus and put me on clear liquid diet for 48 hours. Now everytime i try to drink something it wants to come back up. I did forget to take my acid reflex medicine that morning so i think that that might had contributed to the throwing up, but im still curious about the headaches since i constantly get them when i sprint. Ive been in shape for months before I started track and I wasnt cramping up at all, just the headache and constant throwing up. Can someone help me with the headache and maybe the throwing up too. Thanks!

You might be experiencing what is known as a benign exertional headache. Those affected get them after running, long distance bicycling or lifting weights. The cause is unknown but it thought to be related to muscle tension in the head and neck. This tension interferes with the blood flow causing muscle spasms in the neck and scalp leading to a headache.

There are a few things you can try to see if they help you avoid the headache:
1. see a sports medicine specialist or physical therapist to learn proper range of motion exercises to strengthen your neck
2. drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration
3. immediately after running, massage your shoulder, neck and scalp
4. take ibuprofen

If the headaches continue, you may need to be put on indomethacin (or another drug) as a preventative.

Were your nearly raped or raped? You should go to the clinic either way. They will help you much more than people on here will. Sounds like you're having a panic attack. You need to see a doctor who can give you the help you need.
