At night every body's body temperature increases. Infants and toddlers body temperature usually runs a little higher than the average of 98.6. Your child's temperature — as well as your own — rises in the late afternoon and early evening and falls between sometime after midnight and early morning.
Most doctors — and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) — agree that a normal body temperature for a healthy child is between 97 and 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (36 to 38 degrees Celsius). A toddler is considered feverish if his temperature is over 101 degrees F (38.3 degrees C).
When a child has a high fever that isn't accompanied by a runny nose, a cough, vomiting, or diarrhea, figuring out what's wrong can be difficult. There are many viral infections that can cause a fever and no other symptoms. Some viral infections, such as roseola, cause three days of very high fever followed by a light pink rash on the trunk. More serious infections may also trigger a high fever without any other specific symptoms. If your toddler has a high fever and no other symptoms, call the doctor.
If anything, I'd be looking for new teeth coming in soon. I am sure that is all that is going on. Not much to worry about.

Yes you can definetly call the DR and just tell them that he has a fever of **** and that there is no other obvisious symptoms that is what they are there for.
It is very possible that he is getting his 2yr molars. He will start drooling alot, and wying about his month hurting and of course the fever (just like when he got his baby teeth). But it never hurts to imform your DR of any unexplainable fevers that they are aware that there may be a problem.
I have a 5yr old and she did the same thing. Cried, did not want to play just wanted to be helded and ran a low grade temp for a few days well I did not think nothing of it because she did not have any obvisous symptoms. Until one day I sent her to school for her bus driver to call me and ask me to meet her at the end of the road because my daughter was laying on the floor holding her ear and screaming in agany. I immediatly took her to the DR to find out that she had a double ear infection and her ear drum had ruptured due to the presure. So I would highly recommed that you call the and see what he says.

Yes, you can call and tell them your son has a fever with no other obvious symptoms. It would help if you knew how long he has been running a fever, however, even in the absence of other symptoms, the doctor would most likely tell you to bring him in so they could check him. Especially if he is also fussy, sleeping poorly, and/or has no appetite.
That being said...my kids sometimes run a fever for a day or two with no other symptoms and then it just goes away.

Low grade fevers usually happen when a foreign body enters the body and the fever is a mechanism to fight off the invader. If he has no other symptoms, I would not worry. If things change and his fever jumps, he starts throwing up or showing signs of something else going on, I would get him into his doc.

Take his temperature several times. Sometimes they are just warmer than other times. Check his mouth. He could be getting his 2 year molars. I wouldn't really worry about it unless he is showing other signs OR unless you think he is acting very strangely. I am a firm believer that Momma knows more than the doctor. If you think he is really sick, I would demand he sees the doc, but if he is just cranky and running a low grade, it is possible that he is getting molars or has a virus. Good luck and remember you are the Mom and nobody knows their child like their mother!

As a mother you know your child best and if it's not over 104 you shouldn't take them to the ER but if you are concerned sure call the dr it doesn't hurt. Allergies as well as inner infections are easly for a parent to miss. He is 21 months and can't really explain how he feels being cranky is a way of telling you something isn't right.

at 21 months... I'd check for a molar coming in.
low grade temps... and for a little one.. that's low grade.. usually means teeth..
For molars, mine always liked the frozen wash cloth. Don't use a nice, plushy one..lol
go to the dollar store and get a rough one.. get it wet, wring it out and freeze it.. just for 30 to 40 mins. put some oragel or similar on the end.. squirt it on and rub it in the cloth.. then give it to him to chew on... wrap the part that he's holding on to in a dry towel.. watch him go to town... lol
Good luck

My daughter did this, she was getting her molars through, but she was clingy and miserable with it.
And you can call the doctor to say your son has a fever...

Could be ear infection or urinary tract infection.
This could go on for some time before you notice.
