Pope Benefict criticized "eugenics". What if a new technology was discovered that allowed doctors to change a gene that prevented the child from getting Down's Syndrome? Is that "unholy?" Should we let the child be born with this Syndrome when we have the means to prevent it just because "god" meant it to be this way? How ludicrous is that!

remind them that thier place is in church and not a labratory, depending on the religion, Buddhism and Pagans mesh well with progress, because they dont have set dogma telling them that learning new things is evil. A child with Downs syndrome can be detrimental to both, because the parent has a child that wont live past 40, and they will have to go through the heartache of burying thier offspring, and the child doesnt get the chance to stick up for themselves.

This comes under the same lines as why when they have and can make cars that run on solar or water energy. The petrol company's refuse them to be made or they would close down. People are realizing after scientists discovered our genetic d.n.a that there is more than whats been brainwashed into people by religion. What happens to the churches when nobody goes anymore ? This is why the Pope and the Catholic Church does this.

Do what religious people do when science provides new evidence: IGNORE THEM.
The pope is an ex-Nazi. You expect more out of him? This, of course, explains the reason that he confuses genetic manipulation of removing possibly bad genes that cause diseases such as Down's Syndrome with eugenics and the creation of a "perfect child" - what the Nazi party was attempting to do. Wanting your child born without a debilitating handicap is not the same as attempting to make an Aryan baby.

This is one example of the Catholic Church's complete disconnect from reality on the subject of sex. Not only are Church policies wrong -- they are criminally stupid: thousands of people will die of AIDS who would live if they ignored the absurd teachings of the Church with respect to protection. Fortunately, most practicing Catholics are sensible enough to ignore the official policy and use their heads.

Cast the religion aside for convenience. If you have total faith in god, why bother with any medical procedure. Just let jesus heal you through faith.
Broken leg? jesus is the answer.
Cancer? god will fix you right up.
